Profile of KEK Sorong
The KEK Sorong is stipulated by Government Regulation Number 31 of 2016 as the first Special Economic Zone in Papua. It is hoped that the establishment of the Sorong SEZ can become the center of new economic growth in eastern Indonesia which is also in line with one of the principles of Nawacita, namely to develop Indonesia from the periphery. Located in Mayamuk District, the Sorong SEZ is built on an area of 523.7 hectares and is strategically located on the international trade route between Asia Pacific and Australia.

The Sorong SEZ, which is located in the Sele Strait, provides geo-economic advantages, namely potential in the fisheries and sea transportation sectors. The location is also very strategic for the development of the logistics, agro-industry and mining industries. Based on its potential, the Sorong SEZ was developed based on the activities of the shipbuilding industry, agro industry, mining industry and logistics. The Sorong SEZ is estimated to attract investment of Rp 32.2 trillion by 2025.
